Industrial Mechanic

Tasks and Activities:

Do you want to become an all-rounder in the mechanical field? As an industrial mechanic, you have everything under control that moves. During the 3.5-year apprenticeship, you will learn how to manufacture, assemble and commission mechanical equipment, align and chip tools and machines, and maintain and repair them.

Further Tasks:

  • Joining by screwing and pinning, as well as by soldering and welding

Training schedule at Saint-Gobain Sekurit and Saint-Gobain Glass Germany:

The main training takes place in the maintenance and production departments. Pneumatic and hydraulic skills are taught at the "Glass School" in Stolberg. Basic metal training and exam preparation takes place at Philips. They receive theoretical training at the vocational school in Aachen.

Process mechanic for glass technology

Tasks and Activities

Process mechanics in glass technology work in the glass industry, e.g. at hollow glass manufacturers. As a rule, they work in production or manufacturing halls. They are responsible for maintaining optimum operating conditions. They monitor and regulate the ongoing production process of glass products.

They pay attention to the observance of technically conditioned parameters and in case of impermissible deviations they take care of the correction of the operating conditions. In the event of malfunctions, it is necessary to determine the cause and then remedy the malfunction in order to restore a proper production process. As part of quality assurance, regular checks must be carried out on intermediate and end products. In addition, the process mechanic is responsible for the flawless functioning of the production and operating equipment as well as for setting up and retrofitting the machines and systems. Analogue and digital information and communication technology is used.

Apprenticeship:

Process mechanic glass technology is a state-approved training occupation, which is offered in the industrial sector and lasts 3 years.

Tasks and Activities:

The 3.5-year vocational training takes place in the training company and at the vocational school.

During the training you will learn how to process materials manually and mechanically and how to assemble mechanical, electromechanical, electrical and electronic components into mechatronic systems.

Tasks and Activities:

Training as an electronics technician specializing in industrial engineering takes 3.5 years.

During this time you will lay power lines, assemble and install electrical systems as well as related distributors, switching and control equipment. You will operate and control electrical systems during operation and maintain them.

Tasks and Activities:

Flat glass mechanics process prefabricated flat glass sheets and refine them, e.g. by sandblasting, etching or engraving. The production products include glass plates and panes for tables, doors and showcases, but also for cars, windows, solar systems, conservatories and mirrors. The field of activity includes the cutting of glass panes, the grinding of edges, corners and edges, as well as the finishing of glass with electronically controlled machines, equipment and devices.
